Cranachan

For local Catholics, Blessed Mary's association with Cranachan adds a special dimension to Glen Roy's rich history and, in the light of Blessed Mary's pending canonisation, Cranachan itself has taken on new significance. Cranachan is best viewed from the road to the Glen Roy view point. About 1 mile beyond the hamlet of Bohuntin there are good views across to the Cranachan croft. Space to park a car can be found near to the Mass Stone and a track here leads down towards the River Roy. This was the original way to Cranachan but the bridge is now decaying and unsafe to cross. A little further on is the view point from where the splendour of Glen Roy and the location of Cranachan can be more fully appreciated
