Cille Choirill

Situated high above the River Spean in the Braes of Lochaber, the tiny church of Cille Choirill offers commanding views down over Glen Spean. The site has Catholic connections that go back to the days of the Irish missionary, Cairell, about 600 AD. 
It was below Cille Choirill that Alexander was raised.
An educated young man, Alexander had spent seven years as a seminarian in Rome and Scotland.  In Melbourne, his future looked promising, but his career was hampered by setbacks, and Alexander and his family were always to be materially poor.  Alexander’s home area is best appreciated from the holy ground of Cille Choirill, about 2 miles east of Roy Bridge on the left of the A86.
