Sunday October 6th. 2013
Monday, October 7th, is the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Whenever our Lady has  appeared, she always has the rosary in her hands. She told St. Bernadette at the Grotto at Lourdes that this was the prayer that was most pleasing to her. October is the month when we can combine  our devotions to both St. Joseph and to Our Lady. Before Mass each morning, we recite the rosary, and during the month of October we also say the prayer to St. Joseph who is the Universal Protector of the Church. Today, we need his protection and help more than ever. How often to you say your rosary? Does it lie unused in a purse, in the pocket of you best suit or a  handbag?  It is one of the greatest instruments we have  to grow in holiness. Use it frequently and you will find it makes a great difference to your life.
Harvest Thanksgiving next SundayMass at 11.30 a.m. Next Sunday we have our annual Mass of Harvest Thanksgiving to express our thanks to Almighty God for the success of harvests all over the world.                                        I invite our parishioners to bring their gifts,  tokens of their personal thanks to God for all he gives us, to be laid at the                  front of the altar, to be blessed and later be distributed to the senior members of the community. Each year, there is always a mountain of gifts from our parishioners and friends   All gifts are acceptable—baking, fruit, vegetables,  bottles, boxes and tins of everything, jars of jam etc                                          . I would be grateful for volunteers to come to the sacristy immediately after mass to help with packaging the gifts and also help to distribute them. (Bring some plastic bags)
