Do you ever wonder what our bishop does during the week? Below is Bishop Joseph's  diary for just three weeks—the last week of November and the first fortnight of December, and it is enough to take your breath away!  This busy schedule is typical of each month, and even moreso now that he is administrator of Motherwell diocese until a new bishop is appointed. Sometimes his itinerary also includes travelling abroad for liturgical conferences etc. We remember him in our prayers each day at Mass that God will give him the strength and health to fulfill his many commitments, and that the angels will take care of him on all the long  journeys he has to make by road, sea and air.  A helicopter would be a nice Christmas present for our bishop!
Mass and Confirmations in St. Mary’s on December 1st. at 3 p.m. During mass, Bishop Joseph will confirm thirty children from the  Lochaber parishes in St. Mary's on Sunday, December 1st.  Seven children from our parish will be among those to be confirmed: Giorgio Berardelli, Ruraidh Poll, Tyler Whyte, Skye Speirs, Cameron MacIsaac, Gregor Mews and Calum Mews The children are being prepared at the moment for this important day in their young lives when they will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, and I ask you to keep them very much in your prayers.  This sacrament is closely linked with baptism, and is a further preparation for the children when they will make their First Holy Communion next year. Everyone is invited to tea and sandwiches in St. Mary’s Primary School after the Mass. We hope a number from Roy Bridge will attend the service to support the children. We look forward to the Mass and Confirmations in St. Mary's  for a special reason as quite an amount of work has been done recently on the church:  new lighting has replaced the former orange-colour lighting, a new air source heating system has been installed, and the loudspeaker system has been brought up to date with new equipment. The new heating system will be greatly appreciated by everyone as the old system was unable to cope with cold weather and the size of the church.  Deacon Stan has been an invaluable help to Mgr MacKinnon with these improvements. Deacon  Stan, of, course, will be ordained to the priesthood in Oban on Thursday, December 5th at 6 p.m. and will say his first Mass in Gdansk, Poland, on Sunday December 8th, feast of the Immaculate Conception.
