During the week, I received this  lovely picture of Our Lady from a former parishioner of Arisaig,  Lynsey MacDonald.    Lynsey was still at school when I left Arisaig to come to Roy Bridge,  and is now a  primary teacher in a Catholic school in Coatbridge and busy preparing children for Confirmation before the end of term. The drawing is the work of a Scottish artist, Tommy Canning, and the original is so outstanding.    This photo in the Bulletin does not do it justice  as it is much larger and so beautiful.   I will leave the copy I received from Lynsey at the back of the church, and should anyone be interested in obtaining a copy, I am sure this could be arranged.    I have no idea of the price, but it will not  be expensive.
Feast of St Columba,  June 9th. 1,400 years since his coming to Iona This year the feast of St.   Columba has special significance as the diocese is celebrating the 1,400 years of his arrival at Iona. The bishop has  asked for  triduum of prayer throughout the diocese: June 7th—feast of the Sacred Heart June 8th—consecration of the Cathedral June 9th—feast of St.   Columba Our Masses on  these days will be for the Bishop’s intentions for the spiritual welfare of diocese, and being the Year of Faith, we will also  pray for a deeper love and understanding of our faith — and especially for an increase of vocations to the priesthood and the religious life. The celebrations in the Cathedral on June 9th will be very special.   All the members of the Scottish Hierarchy will be present, and people will come on pilgrimage from all over Scotland to join the diocese in honouring St.   Columba. Bus leaving St.   Mary’s 3.30 p.m. If you wish to join the pilgrimage to Oban on June 9th, please put your name on the sheet at the back of the church TODAY Sister Audrey is arranging the bus and she must have the names this weekend!
