Eucharist During this Year of Faith, which Pope Benedict asked us to deepen our own Faith, it would be good for the parish if we made a special effort to increase our devotion to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. After Easter we will start again with our monthly Holy Hour to ask God’s blessing on the church, our parish and ourselves, and to pray for an increase of vocations to the priesthood and the religious life. Pope Francis is giving us all an example to put God first in our lives. The ceremony begins in semi-darkness. The Easter Fire is lit and blessed, and from this new flame, symbolising the Risen Christ, the Easter Candle is lit and from it all the candles of the congregation. We listen to the readings about our salvation history, the Easter Water is blessed, the congregation sprinkled and the Easter Mass is said CHRIST IS RISEN, ALLELUIA! Masses on Easter Sunday  Invergarry 9 a.m. Spean Bridge 10.15 a.m.   Roy Bridge 11.30 a.m. Easter Water  There will be a brown jar at the back of the church marked Easter Water. It is the ancient custom to take some of this water home during Easter week to sprinkle it on your house, your goods, your fields and animals to ask God’s blessing and protection. SCIAF Collection makes £450 My sincere thanks for your generous Lenten alms which Cme to £450 This will allow the organisers to bring much needed help to poor homeless people and especially to the starving children of Burundi  The SCIAF Wee Boxes should be handed in at the end of Lent, and will also add considerably to the parish total of Lenten alms.  May God bless you all for your goodness. It would be appreciated if you changed the contents of the boxes to notes or pound coins. This makes is so much easier for us to count. The Easter Candle remains in the sanctuary beside the baptismal font throughout the year as a reminder of our own baptism. It also helps us  to recall that each Sunday is a celebration of Easter, and that we are truly the children of the resurrection, filled with hope and joy, and living in the presence of the risen Christ. During the baptism of a new-born baby, the baby’s baptismal candle is lit from Easter Candle  by the child’s father, and the parents are asked by the priest to keep this light of Christ burning brightly in the soul of the child by their own faith and personal example.
