Roy Bridge Café has famous guest for morning coffee Two motorcyclists  called for coffee on Friday morning at Roy Bridge Café, and one was the famous actor Ewan MacGregor! Because of his motorcycle gear, he was not recognised immediately by the staff until he was leaving, and it certainly caused great excitement, and disappointment, that they failed to realise who it was when  he arrived.—and no autographs! However, one person managed to get a photograph of him as he was mounting his bike.  Recently, he gave the commentary on  the beautiful series of BBC films - The Isles on the Edge of the Sea, which won awards for the magnificent scenic and wild life  photography. It was made initially for Scotland, but its success has created great demand for it to be shown all over the world.  Ewan is a  motorcycle enthusiast and has made films with BBC on journeys  to Russia and through wild parts of Africa. He is greatly in demand by the world's famous film studios, and has had the principal role in many box office successes. Gift of £300 for Mary’s Meal During the week, I had a visit from Isobel MacPhee, Erracht Drive, Caol with a magnificent gift of £300  for Mary’s Meals. Isobel is very involved in community and charitable works, and she had a beautiful cake stall at the recent Craft Fair at Achaderry which was very popular with all the invited guest and was an outstanding success. She decided to gift the proceeds to a charity, and she chose Mary's Meals. She is preparing basket with items for a new-born baby. It will be raffled at the Glenfinnan Games and the proceeds will go towards the repair of church at Glenfinnan.
Pope Francis appointed Monsignor Leo Cushley  as Archbishop of St. Andrews & Edinburgh on July 24th.
The new Archbishop will take over the Archdiocese from Archbishop  Philip Tartaglia, who has been Apostolic Administrator following the  resignation of Cardinal Keith O'Brien.  Mgr Cushley is presently Head of the English-language section of the  Vatican’s Secretariat of State and has been a close collaborator of both  Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis.   In his capacity as Prelate of the Anticamera,  Mgr Cushley has been  regularly involved in the visits of Heads of State and other important  guests to the Holy See.  Recently he has assisted as Angela Merkel, the  German Chancellor, the Archbishop of Canterbury and many other high  profile visitors called upon the Pope. As Head of the English section of  the Secretariat of State it was his task to accompany the Holy Father to  English-speaking countries.  During 2010 he accompanied Pope  Benedict to Malta and Cyprus as well as the United Kingdom. During  that visit, at Bellahouston, Mgr Cushley had the pleasure of presenting  his family to Pope Benedict.  Commenting on his appointment, Mgr Cushley said: “I am humbled that our Holy Father Pope Francis has nominated me for such an important task here in our ancient capital.  I know it's a delicate moment and that there is a lot to be done, but with God's grace and the kind support of the clergy and people of Edinburgh, I will work cheerfully and willingly with all the energy I can muster. I don’t know the city of, Edinburgh very well, but I hope to become acquainted with it very soon.”
In Brief We are fortunate in having three organists in the parish — but they are all on holiday for the next two Sundays, So there will no organ to sustain the singing at the Masses. Today we have our collection to help meet the expenses of printing the colour Bulletin
