Fr Tony Wood  with his family after being ordained a priest, July 3, St. Columba’s Cathedral. He will be in Roy Bridge to say Masses during the coming week while I am away.
Congratulation, Andrew,  on your 80th birthday.   Andrew’s family and many friends gathered in Roy Bridge Hall on Saturday evening to wish him a very happy 80th birthday.  It was a  lovely  and joyful evening with a splendid buffet, lots of laughter and fun, and the meeting of many old friends. Andrew has made a remarkable recovery from his illness, and a great deal of this is due to his marvellous spirit. He always keeps himself busy, and he and  David MacFarlane  have done some wonderful work together in maintaining the shinty pitch at Spean Bridge. When I had a sore knee, Andrew told me he never had any knee trouble for he sprayed the knees  regularly with WD40!  I don't mind using WD40 on rusty hinges etc, but I draw the line at knees. However, it seems to have done Andrew a lot of good—and no harm! (not likely to be approved by doctors!) There is no one more kind or reliable than Andrew, and he is always ready to offer his help wherever it is needed. May God bless you, Andrew,  and grant you many more happy and healthy years.
Fr. Tom off for a few days I am off  to the Western Isles for a few days with friends who have kindly invited me join them. I will be away from Monday to Friday, and back for the weekend. Bishop Joseph has asked Fr Tony Wood, our recently ordained priest for the diocese, to come to Roy Bridge and say Mass during this coming week. He takes over as administrator of St. Mary's, Arisaig next weekend as his first parish, and we wish him every blessing and happiness, and may he plough a long, straight furrow! Fr Barrett, who is moving to Glencoe, has an interment in Eigg on Monday, and it is an opportunity for Fr Tony go with him to meet the people of Eigg, which is part of his parish, so there will be no Mass  in Roy Bridge on Monday morning.        I am sure our parishioners will welcome  Fr. Tony and be of every assistance to him
