Bishop  Hugh Gilbert, OSB, baptises Zane Peter Finlay at Fort Augustus
Calum and Olivia Finlay and their family come often from Fort  Augustus to Mass at St. Finnan’s as the time of Mass  at Invergarry  is more convenient for them, and it is always a great joy to have  them with us. We followed Olivia’s pregnancy with our prayers  until Zane Peter arrived safely into the world. It so happened that  Bishop Hugh was visiting Fort Augustus that Sunday and he was  delighted to baptise Zane Peter. The photograph was taken by Sister   Judith, one of St. Mary MacKillop sisters, who happened to be  attending Mass at Fort Augustus.  Olivia is from South Africa, and her mother came over specially for  the baptism. We welcome Zane Peter into the Church, the Body of  Christ, and may he be granted  many graces that he may grow up  fervent in hjs love of God and. his faith.  He has brought so much  happiness to his parents and extended family and many friends -  and also to the parishioners of St. Finnan’s.  May God bless Zane Peter and may the angels protect him.   Peter was his late grandfather's name, and may he be enriched with many of the qualities that he had, especially his strong faith.
Congratulations to Willie and Barbara MacDonald on their Golden Wedding anniversary Willie and Barbara’s Golden Wedding anniversary was actually in  January, but they decided to delay the celebrations until they came to Roy Bridge in August. A large number of relations and friends met in Roy Bridge Hall on
Saturday evening to join with them to celebrate their anniversary, and it was a lovely evening with many happy memories. We wish Willie and Barbara God’s blessing and many years of happiness for the future. Anniversary We remember in our prayers this weekend David McSherry whose anniversary is at this time. The 11.30 a.m. mass today will be said for the repose of his soul. We remember particularly Maureen, his sister,  who suffered the double loss of her brother and mother. We pray that God may grant her his blessing and comfort and renewed health and strength.      Eternal rest grant unto David… We also remember in our prayers Janet and Duncan MacInnes, Achluacrach, mother and son, whose  anniversaries are at this time. Mass was said for them during last week.  Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. In the book of Macabees, we are reminded that it is a holy and wholesome thought to pray for our dead that they may freed from their sins.  It had always been the tradition of Catholics to remember their loved ones on the anniversary of their death, and to have Mass said for the repose of their soul
