Diocesan Levy now £454 per month
The Diocesan Finance Board has approved the Levy to be paid by Parishes in order to meet the Diocesan Budget for the forthcoming
year. The Levy is now 20% of the Weekly Offertory. Our Offertory Collection came to £27,242 last Financial year, and so 20% of
this means our monthly levy is now £454.
One collection in four goes to the Levy, so three collections will have to support our four churches—Roy Bridge, Spean Bridge,
Invergarry and Cille Choirill, and also the chapel house. Heating, lighting and maintenance of the buildings, and also our large
grounds, come to a considerable amount over the year, plus all the travelling expenses.
This is why it is so important that we try to build up our parish funds by other means to make up for the Levy. The 100 Club is a
tremendous asset to the parish and helps to meet most of the cost of oil for heating two of our churches, Roy Bridge and Spean
Bridge. Invergarry and Cille Choirill are heated by electricity and gas respectively.
Fr Roddy Johnstone on the radio
If you are an early bird, you can hear Fr Roddy Johnstone on Radio Scotland for the next three Sundays on the religious programme
from 6.30 a.m. to 7 a.m. He was on last Sunday and was very good. One of the hymns used was from the new CD of Gaelic Hymns,
and was well received. If you would like to purchase a copy of the new CD, which costs £12, please put you name on the list at the
back of the church.
New Mass Books
We now have plenty of new Mass Books to help you follow the weekday Masses. These contain all the Eucharistic prayers and the
various responses.
