Charity registration No. SC002876   Sunday March 4th. 2012 In an exciting afternoon of hard fought games at  the RBS National Shinty Finals for Primary 5 and  under, the Lochaber team, comprised of pupils  from Roy Bridge and Spean Bridge emerged  triumphant. They won the national title and, for the  first time, brought back the prestigious trophy to  the Braes. Having secured their place in the National Finals  two weeks ago by winning the Regional Finals,  Lochaber then saw off the best of Scotland's young  players to qualify for the semi-final where they  defeated Inverlochy 4-2. Lochaber then met Dingwall in a thrilling final.  The local lads showed tremendous skill and  determination. They took an early advantage with  a quick two nil lead, only for Dingwall to come  back strongly, but Lochaber held out to win  comfortably 5 -3. The team's coach, Martin Porter from Roy Bridge,  had the highest praise for his team and how well  they had played. He was delighted with their  success and said how proud he was of them. At the presentation of the trophy and individual  medals, Graham Cormack of the Camanachd  Association congratulated the Lochaber team,  saying the final had been outstanding.   Congratulations to the Lochaber team, their coach  and all who have helped and supported them in  achieving the highest accolade in First Shinty.   (With my thanks to the Braes for the above article and photo) Lochaber Primary School team new Scottish champions                                                                    Photo: Margaret Sargent Team members: Ben Dignan, Freddie Fulford, Darren Whyte, Cameron Whyte, Tyler Whyte, Max Campbell, Ryan Andrews and Calum MacNeil(captain).
