Margo MacDonald’s Assisted Suicide Bill
Cardinal O’Brien and Archbishop Conti have both opposed this bill by speaking out publicly
against it. Margo MacDonald MSP is making an active attempt in the Scottish Parliament to
introduce a bill to make assisted suicide and euthanasia a reality in Scotland. She has consulted
on her End of Life Assistance (Scotland) Bill and it will be considered in Parliament in the
coming months. A Right to Die for the Terminally Ill(Scotland) proposed by Jeremy Purvis MSP
for Tweedale, Ettrick and Lauderdale, failed to achieve the necessary support.
But Margo MacDonald is more determined and has already gone further in her attempt, and it is
important for us all that her proposals do not become law.
This can only be achieved with YOUR help in upholding the values of care and compassion in
our society and rejecting the calls to allow patients lives be ended by doctors.
Care Not Killing: Please take a card, fill it in, and return it to the church, or ask some one to
return it for you. The completed cards will be returned in bulk to the Hierarchy’s
Parliamentary officer, John Deighan, who will present them to the Scottish Parliament.
