Pope Benedict’s visit
Prayer book containing all the Masses
Each parish throughout the country has received copies of Magnificat to distribute to
all parishioners to help them participate in Pope Benedict’s visit to Bellahouston and
the other centres where he will say mass. or by following it on television
The following is a letter which accompanied the booklets
Dear Father,
I am writing to you on behalf of the Bishops' Conferences of England and Wales, and
of Scotland, to advise you of the supply of the official Mass book you will receive
for the forthcoming papal visit. It has been produced by the bishops and other Media
groups who are meeting the cost of publishing.
If you attend the Papal Mass, you will find the complete Mass liturgy with readings,
hymns etc. If you are unable to be present personally at the Mass, you are encouraged
to watch the Mass on television and follow it from your booklet.
Although the booklets are distributed free, the bishops would appreciate a small
donation to help towards the cost.
(Next Sunday there will a basket at the back of the church if you wish to make an
offering for your Mass Booklet)
Still time to book a place on the bus to Bellahouston
to welcome Pope Benedict
The bishops ask that as many as possible make an real effort to come to
Bellahouston to welcome the Holy Father and take part in the first mass he
celebrates on Scottish soil.
We remind ourselves that Pope Benedict is the direct successor of St. Peter to
whom Our Lord gave the care of the flock: “Feed my lambs and feed my sheep”
If you have been undecided about going up until now, there is still time join the
Lochaber group.
It will be a great moment in the history of Scotland—not to be missed!
Please let me know next weekend.
