Christ is risen - Alleluia!
here is no
day to
compare with
Easter Day. It
stands out from
the conflicts and
turmoil of our world
that seems so broken at
the moment with war,
conflicts and scandals,
and the spread of
secularism eating into
the very Christian
fabric of our nation.
Easter lifts our minds
and enlivens our hearts
with a joy and love so
complete that it
conquers death and
increases our faith to
help us overcome
whatever weighs us
down in life. Early on
the first Easter
morning, a mighty act
of God took place -
Christ rose from the
dead and altered the
past and shaped the
future. Nothing can be
the same again. That is what makes Easter the greatest occasion of the year and Good News for all time. All our hopes and
happiness stem from that event. Easter announces that there is a way forward out of darkness, transformation is possible and
change can take place in our lives because the risen Christ lives with us and in us.
The resurrection of Jesus from the dead affirms that death is not the end of us. We are meant for more than this present
life and are not anchored to this world. Human life is no longer limited by the cycle of birth to death. Easter is the answer to
all the tears that we shed at the graves of our loved ones because it reminds us that we have a future greater than we dare
believe in, provided we open our hearts to the grace that Jesus won for us. Christ has shared the gift of his life with us, and
his resurrection from the dead points to the resurrection of all people.
