Sunday May 24th. 2009
Caught in the act—just like our bankers and MPs!
This New York mother duck must have heard of our MP grandee
who had a floating home built for his ducks at a cost of £1,600 to
the tax payer. She has her chicks well trained to divert attention
while she relieves an innocent passer-by of a few dollars for a
home for her brood. You can’t even trust the birds nowadays!
Next Sunday is the feast
of Pentecost
It is the fulfilment of Our
Lord’s promise to his
disciples that he would
send his Holy Spirit, the
Spirit of love.
The Holy Spirit is the very
beating heart of the Church
and a gift that each of us
received on the day of our
baptism,  strengthened by
later by the sacrament of
Confirmation. The parish
makes its annual novena to
the Holy Spirit asking that
the Spirit may enrich our
lives with a new and
refreshed faith.
Communications Special collection
Today, there is a second collection which will go towards the Church’s
National  Media Office in Glasgow, which does a superb job in
passing on information about the Church to the press, TV and radio.
It is highly respected by all the media for its integrity and fairness.
Repository Stall
There will be a repository stall at St. Joseph’s this weekend, and  next
Sunday in St. Margaret’s. This will give parishioners an opportunity to
purchase rosaries, prayer books, statues etc.  The profit margin is kept
as low as possible to encourage parishioners to buy religious articles
from the stall.
Confirmation
I am so grateful to our catechists who volunteered to take our children
once a week after school to teach them their faith. The Confirmation
classes at Spean and Roy Bridge are now ready, and I hope to arrange
a Sunday for Bishop Joseph to come and administer the sacrament to
our children.
He has a very busy programme visiting all the parishes in the diocese,
but it would be wonderful if the children could be confirmed before
the school summer holidays begin.
