Anniversaries
We remember in our prayers at mass this weekend those whose
anniversaries are at this time, especially Major Andrew and Mrs.
MacDonald, Blarour, for whom mass will be said this Sunday
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord…
Offertory Envelopes
The two missing boxes of Offertory envelopes have finally arrived.
Please obtain your book of envelopes at mass today.
Once again my apologies for the error caused by the printers.
They are usually very exact and reliable, and this is the first time there
has ever been a mistake.
May I take this opportunity of thanking
everyone who contributes through the offertory
envelopes each week to the parish, and to those
who have very kindly signed a Gift Aid form.
There are still a number of parishioners who pay tax and have not yet
signed a Gift Aid form!
Remember it costs you NOTHING!!!
-and the parish gains immensely from it. No one from the Inland
Revenue will ever approach you, as it is entirely the Church’s
responsibility to ensure that those who sigh a Gift Aid form pay tax
equivalent to their weekly contribution. For most people, their tax is
deducted from their wage or salary. It is  a percentage of this (28p in
the £1) that the Inland Revenue allows us to claim back.
Margaret MacDonald, Blamona, has been preparing our Gift Aid
submission for this financial year to be presented to the Inland
Revenue. We hope by next week to have the amount of tax that the
parish has been able to claim back. It comes to a considerable amount,
but could be more if every tax payer signed Gift Aid form!
If you wish more information, please call at the sacristy after mass, or
at the chapel house, and get signed up!
Special Collection next Sunday for
Communications.
The Church has its own Scottish Media Office with experts who can
deal with the media when anything of importance occurs in the life of
the Church in Scotland. Peter Kearney, whose father came from Fort
William, is in charge of the office and is well experienced in handling
the press, radio and television and does an excellent job. His brother,
Tony Kearney, is a well-known actor and appears regularly in the
Glasgow soap River City.  Tony also plays an important role as a
presenter in the new Gaelic TV station, Alba, and is a fluent Gaelic
speaker. His mother is from Barra. The two brothers are well-known
throughout the media.
Our Scottish office also deals with any questions the media wish to
ask, and are highly respected for their integrity, especially in difficult
situations. They do wonderful work in keeping the public well
informed about the Church and the various events which take place.
Our collection next Sunday goes towards the upkeep of the office and
its highly professional staff.
