SCIAF—Our Lenten offering
Despite the difficult times in which we are living, there are millions of people much worse off than we are. It is these that we are asked to help by the sacrifices we have made during Lent when we deprive ourselves of certain pleasurable things and save the money for the poor and needy– especially the starving children.
I have asked Mary's Meals to send us boxes, and there will also be the Wee Boxes from SCIAF,  so  our parishioners will have a choice as regards which charity they wish to help. The annual  Lenten collection for SCIAF will be taken up in a fortnight’s time.
Both these charities do tremendous work in the Third World, and we thank God that they represent the Church and try to assure that the most deserving members of the body of Christ are catered for by our love and sacrifices. Our Lord has told us that in the end we will all be judged on charity:
When I was hungry, you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink, naked and you clothed me, sick and you comforted me, unjustly imprisoned, and you did all you could to help and free me. Whenever you did this to the least of my brothers and sisters, you did it to me.

Ann MacKintosh, R.I.P
Ann went gently to God last Saturday evening with her family and loved ones around her in the Belford Hospital. She knew that her illness was terminal, and she accepted this with great calm and peace because of her faith and trust in God’s goodness. We send our sympathy to all her family.
A large number attended her funeral, many representing the medical profession, as she was one of the great matrons of the Belford Hospital. She was laid to rest among her family and relations at Cille Choirill.
The MacKintoshes, Corran, as a family have always been noted for their love of the mass and the sacraments, and their great loyalty to the Church. Ann was an outstanding example of this. Despite her poor health in latter years, she rarely missed a mass at Cille Choirill or anything important that was taking place in Roy Bridge parish. May her good soul now rejoice in the presence of God in heaven whom she served so faithfully on this earth. May she rest in peace.
Supply Priest
I am so grateful to Fr Paul for helping out in the parish and attending to all the masses. He will be able to stay for another week and also say the masses next Sunday.
I am not sure exactly when I will be able to return to duty, but I am assured by the physios in the Belford that I am continuing to make good progress. The first six weeks are the worst, and from then on there is usually a rapid improvement. I spent a most relaxing and enjoyable week with my niece and her husband on their farm at Newmills, just outside Perth on the Inverness road. She is a cordon bleu cook, so meals were always something to look forward to!
I hope within a week or so to be able to drive  and spend more time in the parish until I have the joy of saying mass in public once again. The bishop has been most kind and insists I continue with my convalescence until I am back to form.

Congratulations
Our sincere congratulations to Rick and Alison Riegels (Sidgwick) who were blessed with a lovely daughter, Niamh Christina, born on February 19th. Eleanor will be delighted with her new sister. We look forward to welcoming  Rick and Alison back to the parish for the christening in the near future. May God bless Niamh Christina and grant her many graces and a life filled with joy and happiness—and may the angels protect her always.
