Heating at St. Margaret’s
I arranged to meet the heating engineer last week, and he assures me he is doing everything he can to hasten the new burner which is only made in Italy now. While I was there, he stripped the burner and readjusted the carbon spark rods. Since then, it has been functioning very well. Now that Pope Benedict is back from Africa, he might put in a word with the firm on our behalf!
Parish Mass programme
Now that I am back in the parish, all the masses will be at the usual times, and the sick visited.
Mass on Wednesday will be at 10 a.m.
because of the Chrism Mass in Oban on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
Anyone wishing to attend the Chrism mass should contact Mgr MacKinnon (70-2174) to book a place on the bus.
The bishop is meeting the clergy in the afternoon to have a meal with them. Previously the meal was after the mass, but many of the clergy were unable to wait because of the long journey back to their parishes. We do look forward to meeting one another.
George MacRae R.I.P
George passed away peacefully on Thursday morning at his home in Altour Road, Spean Bridge, and we wish to offer our sincere sympathy to Marion and her family that God may comfort them at the loss of such a good husband father and grandfather. Although George had not really been ill, his health deteriorated ever so gradually over a period until finally God called him to himself. He had the comfort of his family around him during this last few days, and Jessie, his daughter,e had flown from Texas to be with him. He was prayed for at mass during these final few days that God might grant him a holy and peaceful death, and he received all the sacraments and was very much at peace. May his good soul rest in peace.
Funeral arrangements
George’s remains will come to St. Margaret’s on Monday evening at 7 p.m., and the Mass of Requiem will be on Tuesday at 12 noon. George will be laid to rest at Cille Choirill
Have you taken a Lenten Box home?
It’s never too late even although there is only a fortnight of Lent left.
Some parishioners always keep a box handy in the house for spare change, and it is quite amazing how much this can total in a year.
Don’t forget to take a box home with you this weekend!
100 Club subscriptions
As I was absent from the parish for the past 8 weeks, the 100 Club did not receive its usual weekly boost in the Bulletin to remind parishioners about subscriptions. Last year, the subscriptions came to almost £1,700 which allowed us to meet the heating bills for most of the year and to pay out the monthly prize of £50. Pop your envelope into the basket or contact Ishbel.
