Next Sunday is Palm Sunday and the beginning of the most sacred week in the Church’s liturgy.
Last Wednesday we celebrated the feast of the Annunciation when Christ took flesh in the womb of the Virgin Mary. God truly became man in the person of Jesus. The compassion of God made him become one of us, like us in all things except sin. And yet, the pride and selfishness of his own people would not allow them to accept him as the long awaited Messiah—and so they accused him falsely and had him crucified. This is how men treated God whose immense love and compassion brought him from heaven to befriend them and save them. You cannot crucify a victim comfortably, and so after having been scourged mercilessly, he submitted himself to the most awful death devised by the Romans for the very worst criminals—CRUCIFIXION!
Try to make Holy Week special by following Christ in his Passion and rejoicing with him on Easter Sunday
We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world
