We wish all the mothers in the parish a very happy and blessed Mothers’ Day.
A mother is  the very beating heart of the home, and although she may be taken for granted at times, there is no one more important in this world to her children than herself.
Motherhood is a wonderful sharing in the creative power of Almighty God, for a mother brings forth  a new life into this world that was formed within her. Her children are flesh of her flesh and bone of her bones, and there is a bond between them that is so special and so precious and mysterious.
In the psalms, the writer praises God for the wonder of his being and says you  knitted me together in his mother’s womb.
I am sure there will be lots of presents from the children—cards, flowers and other little gifts, some specially made for the occasion. Perhaps mum will be served breakfast in bed, or have a special meal prepared for her, or may be a run out in the car to spend the day together,
Whatever, have a happy day and enjoy yourself, for as L’Oréal,  the French perfumery adverts on TV say….Because, you’re worth it!
Tomorrow is Monday and we are back to the daily routine of life. But mothers can be assured that it is not just on this one day of the year that they are truly appreciated, but every day for a mother reigns as queen in the home and she should have no more loyal subjects than her own husband and children, for her whole life is devoted to them in  a service of  love
