Our parish sends   £2,288.00
to Mary’s Meals

The fund-raising evening for Mary’s Meals was an incredible success, and the total was far beyond anything the committee dreamed or hoped for. Mary’s Meals touches the hearts of so many people, and they respond with a tremendous generosity that is overwhelming.

Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, who started Mary’s Meals, assures us that, with all the volunteer help given in the various countries, Mary Meals can feed a child with one good meal every day for a whole year for £5.50 The only condition is that the child must come to school. In this way, he can feed and educate a child at the same time.
The long term effect of this may be that, with a good education, some of these children may go on to university and later take an important place in serving their country, helping it to get out of poverty.  The magnificent total of £2,288 will feed, approximately, 415 hungry children for a year, and you can be sure that every penny will go towards this!

Our grateful thanks to the committee who organised the evening: Ann MacKintosh, Ishabel Campbell, Sally Campbell, Val MacDonald and Deirdre MacDonald. They put in an incredible amount of work to ensure that the evening was a success. They would like to thank Betty Campbell for her enthusiasm in promoting the evening  over the past few weeks, and also Catrina MacDonald and Mylene MacDonald for helping in the hall, and everyone who helped to provide such a excellent buffet, and for all the lovely baking for the tea at the end of the evening.

A very special thanks to everyone for the wonderful selection of gifts for the raffle and the Wheel of Fortune.

Throughout the evening there was enjoyable background of music provided by Peter Rose, Chris Josey, Deirdre MacDonald, Helena Rose and Natalie Laing
It was with great satisfaction that £2,288 was transferred during the week to the bank used by Mary’s Meals
May God bless all who did so much to ensure the success of the evening and everyone who came along to support it, despite the awful weather.
