Thank you to Iain Ferguson, Write Image.
I am most grateful to Iain Ferguson, the photographer, for allowing me to use the photograph on the back page, celebrating the saving of Roy Bridge school.
Iain has been very kind to me in the past by giving me permission to use his photographs
for the Bulletin, which he sends by e-
Iain is now the new editor of Lochaber Life, and is carrying on the great tradition set by its former editors, John and Margaret Muncie.
We wish the magazine continued success under Iain’s editorship. It will always be assured of good photographs!
Spean School has visit from
HM Inspectors
Last week, Spean School was visited by five of her Majesty’s inspectors who came to examine the progress of the new school. I am sure Mrs Kate MacGillvary, the head teacher, can be confident that they were impressed by the standard of teaching and the number of activities and projects in which the children are involved. The inspectors accompanied several of the classes on their outings to the Rural Complex farming unit.
Inspection of Roy Bridge School
Mrs MacGillvary will have hardly time to draw her breath and relax for a moment after the inspection of Spean School, when she has to get ready for an inspection of Roy Bridge school in three week’s time.
It always demands a lot of extra preparation to have everything ready when inspectors visit a school.
I am sure she will receive all the support she requires from her staff and the children, and, as always, everything in the school will be in excellent shape for the inspection.
Date fixed for confirmations
Bishop Murray will visit St. Margaret’s on Wednesday, June 18, to administer the sacrament of confirmation to five of our children in the evening at 7 p.m.
Formerly, Confirmation was administered to children of primary seven at a Sunday mass, but now confirmation is given its proper liturgical place, coming after baptism. With presence of the Holy Spirit in the child’s soul, it is more prepared to receive our Lord when it makes its first Holy Communion.
Congratulations to Charles and Caroline Campbell, Drumfadda Terrace, Corpach, on the birth of their son, Ruraidh, last week.
This has made Iain and Mary Campbell grandparents for the first time, and they are delighted with their new grandson!
Charles and Caroline were married in St. Margaret in April 2007, and they are blessed early on their marriage with a son.
Charles is a civil engineer, and at the moment is working on the new Polnish to Arisaig section which we see mentioned regularly on the notice signs advising us of delays at Polnish!
Someone was telling me recently that a road sign just outside the city of Edinburgh was advising people of possible delays at Polnish! Most drivers have never heard of Polnish, and probably thought is was something Polish!
Invergarry School
Congratulations to Jane Strachan, Inverroy, on her appointment as the new head teacher of
Invergarry primary school.
