Trinity Sunday
Next Sunday is the feast of the most Holy Trinity, and is the end of Eastertide.
It is also the end of the period for making our Easter duties. Every Catholic is expected to receive Holy Communion during Eastertide, to fulfil the commandment of the Church. It is a serious obligation, as the Church, our mother, knows the importance of the reception of the Body and Blood of Christ for the good of the soul. It is in this sacrament we receive so many graces necessary for our salvation.
If there is any one in your household who has not made their Easter Duties, please encourage them to do so.
The following Sunday is the feast of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Christ. It is a day when we have the opportunity to express our sincere thanks to Our Lord for the wonder of the gift he has made of himself in the sacrament of his love. Through this sacrament he comes truly present within our hearts in holy communion; he is
present continually, day and night, in the Blessed Sacrament on the altar for all to come and visit him; in this sacrament, he is brought to the sick and the housebound to assure them of his love for them, and to bring them his strength and his healing.
It is so incredible when we fully realise how God has chosen to humble himself in the simplicity of this sacrament so that he can be one with us. “I am the bread of life. I am the living bread come down from heaven.; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live for ever.”
Confirmation
Bishop Murray will come to the parish in the middle of June to administer the sacrament of Confirmation to our children.
The parents will be notified of the date and time when the children meet for their lesson on Monday afternoon.
The parish must have a serious discussion shortly about the religious education of our children in both schools.
