100 Club best returns so far!

The bank statement for May came in during the week, and our total for this year has reached over £1,856 - the best so far! This will be a wonderful help for the coming winter months  to meet the bills for heating oil, which no doubt will be exorbitant because of the inflated world price of oil.

I am grateful to Ishbel Campbell, who runs the 100 Club, for all her hard work in gathering in the subscriptions and banking them regularly—as well as paying out the monthly prize of £50 to the lucky winners.  It is certainly a great help to know that this money is available to pay for our heating. Up until this year, the income from the 100 Club was sufficient to pay for the heating for both St. Margaret’s and St. Joseph’s throughout the whole winter. However, this coming year,  every community will find it more costly to heat their homes as well as  their churches and halls.

Remember, it is never too late to join the 100 club and help with heating our churches.

Spean Bridge Fun Day makes over £4,000 for school

Sunday was another glorious day, and the good weather was responsible for the large number who came along to enjoy the Fun Day. The organisation was excellent, and there was an abundance of stalls and activities to  occupy everyone, and, of course, a lovely afternoon tea was served in the hall, with lots of cakes on all the tables. The highlight of the afternoon was the fancy dress parade, and a great deal of care went into preparing the exotic costumes worn by the children. A day like this shows the wonderful

spirit that has been regenerated in the school, and it has also involved so many of the parents.   Well done, everyone, for providing  a great day for Spean!

School Inspectors return; This coming week, Roy Bridge School will have an inspection, so spare a thought in your prayers that everything will go successfully.

Spean Bridge School’s recent  inspection appears to have been very successful.  The official report will not be available until September.

Our Sick

Fr. Ted Murphy, retired a few months ago, and has been living at his sister’s house at Lochyside.  He has been unwell for some considerable time, and his condition has worsened and he is not expected to live over the weekend.  This week the Bulletin was printed on Thursday because of an appointment I had in Inverness for a cataract, but whatever news there is will be announced at the weekend.

Ronnie Campbell was taken last week to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after suffering chest pains.  I phoned the

hospital on Wednesday and was able to speak to Ronnie himself. Sheila was with him at the time.  He told me  that he was having a by-pass operation on Friday morning, and that the consultants were very optimistic about his health.

I was able to arrange for a priest to visit Ronnie before his operation. I promised him that he would be remembered in our prayers and in all the masses. Should you wish to send him a card, his address is:
Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh,
51, Little France Crescent,

Old Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh, EH16 4SA

Feast of St. Anthony, Friday, June 13th:

St. Anthony, a disciple of St. Francis of Assisi, was recognised for his holiness, was a wonderful preacher,

converted many to the practice of the faith, and many  miracles were attributed to his  intercession. He had the privilege of  visits from the Child Jesus. Great for finding things!
