area since the arrival of St. Cairell. I would be grateful if parishioners would let their relations and friends, who live at a distance, know about the mass.
Remarks of praise about how well the cemetery is maintained were made by many of the mourners who attended the interments last week of Fr. Ted Murphy and Mrs. Georgina Duff.
Mrs Mary Moore, Inverlochy
We offer our sincere sympathy to Susan Toal and Kathleen Kerr, whose sister, Mary Moore, died last Saturday evening, June 14th. at her home in Inverlochy, at the age of 93. We also send our deepest sympathy to Mary’s own family, and pray that God may comfort them all at the loss of a dear mother.
Mary’s daughter, Patricia, cared for her mother for the past thirteen years with great love and devotion, and the rest of the family were all very attentive in visiting her.
Her Requiem Mass was said in St. Mary’s on Wednesday, and she was buried at Cille Choirill beside her husband, John, who predeceased her by many years.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.
World Youth Day in Sydney.
July 15th.—20th.
Deirdre MacDonald, and her friend, Fiona Douthwaite, leave for Sydney on July 2nd.
Ann MacKeon, formerly Ann MacNeil from Fort William, will meet the girls, as she lives only ten minutes from Sydney airport. They can stay with Ann as long as they wish before moving on to explore other parts of Australia until Pope Benedict arrives for the World Youth Day. Chris Kelly, who spent a week in Roy Bridge with his mother after Easter, has invited Deirdre and Fiona to stay with him for a few days at his home in Geelong, near Melbourne.
Chris was principal lecturer in accountancy at Geelong University , and is now the Dean.
The Sisters of St. Joseph will also look after the girls, and take them to chapel where Blessed Mary’s remains lie. With Deirdre being a MacKillop on her mother’s side, she is closely related to Blessed Mary and will be made extra welcome, as will Fiona, by the sisters.
Intentions: If anyone would like an intention placed on Blessed Mary’s tomb, please put it in a sealed envelope and hand it in either at the sacristy or the Chapel House by next Sunday,
We hope Deirdre can bring her violin with her as hand luggage, as she will be a great hit in Australia playing her Scottish melodies, jigs, and strathspeys and reels!
Blessed Mary’s Cause
Fr Paul Gardiner, S.J., the postulator of the Cause, has been called to Rome to provide the details of the most recent miracle attributed to Blessed Mary’s intercession.
Great progress has been made recently about her Cause, and there is strong and reliable evidence regarding this particular miracle. It has already past the first hurdle after careful investigation.
Pope Benedict will visit her tomb to pray there when he is in Australia at the World Youth Rally. May his prayers help to hasten the day of her canonisation!
Mass at Cille Choirill next Sunday at 3 p.m.
June 29th.—feast of Saints Peter and Paul
There will be mass next Sunday at Cille Choirill, and it will a lovely day on which to have the mass, the feast of St. Peter and Paul, the two great pillars of the Church.
Tradition tells us that Peter was crucified upside down, as he felt unworthy to be crucified in the same way as our Saviour. Paul was beheaded rather than crucified, as he was a Roman citizen, and this form of death was undignified for a citizen of Rome.
Cille Choirill is a symbol of the faith that has been maintained and lived in this
