A little piece of Cille Choirill Church goes to Sydney.
The parish of St. Francis Xavier, Rockdale, where Ann McKeon lives, changed its name just recently to Mary MacKillop Parish. Ann, of course, was originally Ann MacNeil from Fort William, and has lived in Australia for over 30 years where she is married with a family. She has been a wonderful host to Deirdre and Fiona who are staying with her.
The parish priest, Fr, Brendan, asked Ann if he could possibly have a small stone from Cille Choirill  since his parish was now dedicated to Blessed Mary MacKillop.
Ann contacted me, and on the morning Deirdre left for Australia, she went up to Cille Choirill and took a small stone from the church, and presented it to Fr. Brendan a few days later at the offertory of the  mass on Sunday.  Ann wrote to say that Fr. Brendan was almost in tears at the altar as he received this stone from the homeland of Blessed Mary’s
parents, and the congregation were equally moved by the fact that they had something tangible from Roy Bridge’s

ancient church for the renaming of their own church now called  Mary MacKillop Parish.
Very soon, I hope to obtain a stone from Cille Choirill large enough that can be made into a plaque and  inscribed with the good wishes and prayers of the people of Roy Bridge  and send it to Fr Brendan and his parishioners to unite our parish with his new Mary MacKillop Parish, Rockdale.
Anniversary
We remember in our prayers this weekend, Christine Morrison, Spean Bridge, whose anniversary is at this time. Mass was said for Christine on Friday for the repose of her gentle good soul, and also that God may continue to comfort her loved ones who still miss her so much.   May she rest in peace.

July Collection for the Bishop’s Fund
This second collection next weekend is for deserving causes in the diocese  which allows the bishop to offer financial help.
As regards Bishop Murray’s retirement, it could now be October before any announcement is made as  many Vatican officials will be on holiday. In the meantime, we pray that God may grant the diocese a worthy spiritual shepherd to replace Bishop Ian.

The Bishop has made known that four young men have shown an interest in starting studies for the priesthood for our diocese, which is excellent news and an answer to the many prayers offered for more vocations to the priesthood and the religious life. We will continue to keep them in our prayers that they may be accepted and soon start their studies.
Our Sick
We remember very especially in our prayers this weekend, Sharon Fraser, Invergarry who is very ill, and also her nephew, baby Robbie Fraser, for whom we pray at mass each weekend. I promised Sharon that we would pray to Blessed Mary MacKillop that through her intercession God might grant her his healing.

Wedding
Peter Sidgwick and Aimée Gardiner will be married this coming Saturday. We wish them  every blessing and a wonderfully happy wedding day.

Cille Choirill
Our cemetery is looking so neat and tidy since the grass has had its second cutting of the year. There are so many people visit Cille Choirill throughout the summer. The BBC series Monarch of the Glen has been sold all over the world, and because of this many visitors are still attracted to Cille Choirill as they have only recently followed the series.
