Congratulations to Donnie MacRae on his graduation
Donnie MacRae, 7 Aonachan Gardens, Spean Bridge, graduated with a Higher National Diploma in Marine Engineering on June 20th, at the Glasgow College of Nautical Studies. He will  take up his post with his shipping line as a third engineer. As he puts in more sea time, he will gradually advance to chief  engineer.
We congratulate Donnie in passing this very difficult exam, because he had to find time after studying at the College for Nautical Studies to continue his studies while still at sea.
Donnie has been with the Norwegian Knutfen Line for the past three years, and has been literally all over the world—South Africa, Australia, South America, the Caribbean, North America etc. Now that he has graduated, when he returns to the Knutfen Line,  he will  take up his post as a trained marine engineer. Within  a few years, with all the practical experience he will receive, and further exams, he will no doubt achieve his ambition of the post of  Chief Engineer.
Donnie’s father has his captain’s ticket, and skippers a carrier boat that sails round the West Coast and to the Western Isles with supplies for the various communities. He is well-known by many of the people he serves, and used to the stormy weather in these treacherous waters. Obviously, the sea is in the family genes!
