New Bishop takes possession of his Cathedral
Bishop Toal stands at the bishop’s chair in the Cathedral after being invested with his ring, mitre and crozier.
This was the moment when he took possession of the diocese as its bishop.
The chair is the symbol of the bishop’s authority.
There was a long and thunderous applause from the packed Cathedral expressing its joy and welcome to the new bishop’s appointment by the Holy Father, Pope Benedict.
